Description
I had the big honour to see George Thorogood live at the Cazorla Blues Festival in Spain in July 2013. As far as I understood him, it was the first time he had ever performed in Spain. He seemed to enjoy it, although at the end of his performance, at about 2 a.m. in the morning, he looked at his watch and screamed into the microphone "You people in Spain are crazy!".
A couple of songs into the gig a person from the audience threw him the hat George is wearing in the painting. Living together with a stage musician and lead singer, I know very well how these guys are concerned with their public image on stage, and I was really impressed that George simply put the hat on his head and started singing. "Chapeau!", as we say in my home country...
That kind of hat was apparently very representative of the Cazorla festival, as most people there were wearing one...
Thanks George for coming to us, you were fabulous! I hope it won't be the last time we will see you here in Spain...
