During my recent painting trip through the centre of Spain (October 2013), I went to the town of Alcazar de San Juan, with the intention of seeing its lagoons and birds. Well, somehow, I didn't find the lagoons, perhaps they were dry, something which happens quite often in Spain. But at least I saw a flamingo in the form of a wonderful, giant metal sculpture in the centre of a round-about at the entrance of the town. This painting is inspired by the sculpture. The trees in the background belong to the spacious and beautiful town park.
Alc�zar de San Juan (often called simply Alc�zar or Alc�zar de Consuegra) is a town and municipality in the province of Ciudad Real, part of the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha, Spain. It is located in the plain of La Mancha.
